About Fu Lam Mum

Located at 153 Castro St, Mountain View, CA 94041, Fu Lam Mum operates as a chinese restaurant serving Mountain View in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under dim sum restaurant, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Mountain View; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–2:30 pm. It is closed on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Fu Lam Mum at (650) 967-1689; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is fulammummountainview.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 1,114 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Mountain View is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Mountain View is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

In the area for the farmer's market. Decided to do an afternoon dim sum. Ambiance is a bit cleaner than many other dim sum spots. Overall, food was a bit of a disappointment. Chicken feet was not the normal kind with black bean sauce, seems like it was steamed with a yam of some sort. Veggies were very bitter. Service was a bit non existent. Not sure if it was because we just went later, but was not impressed. Likely a 1.5 star experience. Parking can be tough during peak hours.

Dim Sum is decent, the dishes themselves lacked a bit of seasoning! Overall decent amount of seating and tasty salted egg yolk buns.

Nice little fancy restaurant in downtown Mountain View. The food seems a bit Americanized, but that wasn't a problem for the chow mein. The salt and pepper fish, on the other hand, was clearly tailored towards the American palate.

We have not been here in many years. What a pleasant surprise they still deliver the same great quality food and service. And now, they have outside seating too. They still have the traditional carts roaming around the dining room with delicious choices. We liked that the classic dimsum fare was still being served and they do not scrimp on portions, unlike many dimsum places in Millbrae and Daly City. The shu mai was juicy and large, as were the shiu bao. The tofu skin wrap had a lot of filling instead of several layers of tofu skin. The ham suy ko was plump and crisp on the outside but chewing on the inside with a good amount of filling. We came for a late lunch but they were still full. Their service was friendly but brisk and efficient. The place was clean and pleasant. We will be back!

Service is awesome and food is great. My fave is the salt and pepper chicken wings. No other places make it as good as here. Their stir-fried dishes are very good. Their HK style ice-lemon tea and milk tea are also very good. Their waiters/waitresses can speak English pretty well. The restaurant is bright and clean inside and decor is nice. I always bring my dog for outdoor seating. Dim sum isn't available for lunch only, you can also order dim sum for dinner too. Highly recommend.
